Bondleigh

This 4 hectare Carbon Neutral revegetation site lies in the Eastern Hills and Murray Plains area of the Murray Darling basin in the Bremer River Catchment, 10 kilometres north of Callington.

The dominant vegetation association along this range is defined as Peppermint Box (Eucalyptus odorata) Grassy Woodland, which the Australian Government has recently approved listing as critically endangered.

Focusing revegetation efforts in these areas will not only help to buffer and link the remaining stands of remnant vegetation, but also provide bio-diverse habitat for local fauna and lessen wind and gully erosion.

Site Update – September 2011

Remedial direct seeding to redress an expected shortfall from projected numbers due to unfavourable conditions after initial seeding in 2008, a further 7.5km of direct seeding was conducted on 31-Aug-11 using 4kg of seed.

Overall progress on the site is very good, with improving outcomes as small establishing plants become evident and growth rates accelerate. With the remedial works carried out, this site will meet projected outcomes with excellent species diversity.

Species to be planted on site:

Acacia sp: argyrophylla, calamifolia, menzelii, pycnantha
Allocasuarina verticillata
Dodonaea viscosa spatulata
Eucalyptus sp: fasciculosa, leucoxylon, odorata, porosa
Senna artemisioides filifolia
