The dominant vegetation association on the floodplain is River Red Gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) with Southern Blue Gum (Eucalyptus leucoxylon) and Peppermint Box (Eucalyptus odorata) grassy woodland on the upper slopes.
The site has excellent plant numbers and diversity after a favorable 2010-11 season.
An over-spray was carried out on 29-Jul-11 to reduce weed competition in the direct seeding rows.
There were a number of severe frosts occur in the Keyneton and Eden Valley area, this is a common occurence. The species most affected are the dodonaea and acacia seedlings. The affected plants leaves turn brown and desiccate. The visiual impact is severe and many plants look like they have died, but their resilience generally sees them fully recover.
