Mt. Torrens

Located 3 kilometres north of Mt Torrens in the Onkaparinga Valley, this Carbon Neutral planting comprises 6 hectares of gently sloping revegetation reflecting Eucalyptus camaldulensis woodland in the Angus Creek catchment.

Planting Dates:

Direct Seeding was undertaken on 19 October 2009.

Acacia sp melanoxylon, myrtifolia, paradoxa, pycnantha, retinodes (hill form),
Allocasuarina verticillata
Bursaria spinosa
Dodonaea viscosa spatulata
Eucalyptus sp: camaldulensis, fasciculosa, , goniocalyx, leucoxylon, viminalis cygnetensis,
Leptospermum continentale

Site Update:

There has been excellent germination in the first 9 months on this high rainfall site. The predominant species coming up is red gum so the site has tremendous carbon sequestration potential. With the good winter rains this site is expected to gain height quickly.

Carbon uptake:

The total carbon target for the 2009 plantings on this site is 1,200 tonnes CO2e sequestered over 100 years
