Alfred James Memory Tree Program

A tree is a symbol of life. It can also be a living memorial and a comfort to those who are grieving the death of a loved one.

Trees For Life plants native Memory Trees on the hundreds of hectares of land surrounding the animal habitats at Monarto Zoological Park. These trees improve wildlife habitat and air quality, whilst also reducing erosion and salinity in the Murray River Basin.

When the trees have been planted, a certificate enclosed in a special folder is presented to the bereaved along with information about the Memory Trees and about Monarto Zoological Park.

In 2001 the Alfred James partnership with Trees For Life won the South Australian Medium Business Category in the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Community Business Partnerships.
