Woody weeds

Seedlings Carefully hand weed when soil is moist, firm soil back down and replace leaf litter.
Small woody weeds (ie. boneseed) Cut & swab
Large woody weeds (ie. olive) Drill & Fill

Special cases

Radiata pine Seedlings - hand weed; larger plants cut below the first shoot, no herbicide needed; small trees with a diameter greater than 6cm, ringbark or drill & fill. Note: larger trees should not be treated without reference to your regional coordinator and the landowner due to potential damage and liability issues when they fall.

Erica Seedlings - hand weed; larger plants cut or break off below the lignotuber by rocking back and forth or using a blow from a small mash hammer, no herbicide needed. Alternatively, drill & fill.

Herbaceous weeds (ie. ribwort)

Rosette stage, flat weeds Swab, wipe with a Weedbrush or spot spray.

Older plants with woody base Cut & swab

Perennial weed grasses

Tussocks (ie. cocksfoot) Cut & swab or spot spray tussocks when they green up following rains.

Creeping (ie. couch) Carefully hand weed, swab or wipe runners with a Weedbrush among native plants; spot spray edges of larger patches
