Purpose:
The management of grassy ecosystems need specialist skills, because much diversity is found in the grassy understorey which is particularly prone to invasion by exotic broadleaf weeds. In this workshop you will learn more about the grassy understorey, the biology of some of the native and exotic species and specialist chemical techniques for controlling broadleaf weeds, including bridal creeper.
Format:
9:30am – 1.00pm in the classroom with practical exercises outside
Course Content :
· Some of the main broadleaf weeds in grassy ecosystems
· Why glyphosate is not always the best herbicide
· Advantages of using broadleaf herbicides
· When is the time to use/not use broadleaf herbicides
· Volunteers using broadleaf herbicides (OHS&W, access to herbicides and calibration of spray units)
