Purpose:
Bushcarers often want to increase their knowledge of indigenous plants and exotic weeds, including being able to identify new plants using books and keys. This workshop is the first step towards being able to recognise and identify new plants and aims to give you some of the skills to seek more information. The skills you learn here will need to be put to the practical test to learn more species from field observations.
Course Content:
• Introduction to general botany and floral anatomy
• Recognise the characteristics of some of the major plant families
• How to use botanical and other plant identification books
• Using a herbarium to develop your knowledge
• Practical plant ID using a few common species
