Direct Seeding

Direct seeding is designed for broad scale revegetation. It is an excellent way to revegetate your property quickly and efficiently using the locally sourced mixed seed.

With direct seeding, success is less dependent on rains in a single season as the seed remains dormant until conditions favour germination. Plants grown from seed are more robust than those planted as tubestock.

We place prime importance on the provenance of the seed we use and collect it from remnant vegetation close to the client’s site or from nearly sites previously seeded by us. This helps takes the pressure off existing remnant vegetation.

Choose direct seeding if:

  • You have a large area to plant
  • The land is safely accessible by tractor or ute
  • The land is arable
  • Your property is located in one of the following areas:
    • Murray Mallee
    • Greater Mt Lofty Ranges
    • Fleurieu Peninsula
    • Upper South East
    • Mid North
    • Yorke Peninsula

Our direct seeding service includes:

  • Preparation of an indicative quote based on information provided by the landholder
  • Site meeting to determine appropriate species, map the exact areas to be seeded and to finalise quote for approval
  • Advice on pest plant and animal control
  • Weed control after direct seeding
  • Native seed matched to your property
  • Appropriate machinery for your property
  • Job completion summary
  • Financial membership benefits entitling you to order subsidised tubestock to further enhance your planting

Your responsibilities include

  • Ongoing weed and pest control

Direct Seeding is done in autumn, winter and spring.
